The 17th International Conference on Systems, Signals and Image Processing (IWSSIP) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 17–19, 2010. The conference was organized by Federal Fluminense University (UFF), in co-operation with SBC (Sociedade Brasileira de Computação), ABCM (Associação Brasileira de Ciências Mecânicas), ABEPRO (Associação Brasileira de Engenharia de Produção), and IEEE Region 9/Latin America and sponsored by CAPESMEC (Coodenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de nivel Superior – Ministério da Educação), FAPERJ (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado do Rio de Janeiro) and UFF (Federal Fluminense University). IWSSIP is an annual event on signal and image processing systems. It brings together researchers and developers from both academia and industry to discuss major issues and to debate the state-of-the-art systems.
